When I was a property manager, deposit disputes were the worst part of the job.
Boilers would break, plumbers wouldn’t show, and tenants—understandably frustrated—would take it out on us. Landlords weren’t always angels either. And in the middle? Me, trying to piece together vague written notes with barely any photographic evidence, writing up tedious reports to the deposit schemes. Long-winded. Boring. Unrewarding.
It was a mess. And it cost everyone time, money, and energy.
So when the world slowed down during COVID, I saw an opportunity.
I set out to create the kind of inventory report I wish I’d had back then — something I could quickly skim as a busy manager, but also bulletproof enough to shut down arguments from either side. A report that was clear. Fair. Evidence-led.
That’s how Blue Sky Inventories was born.
